Validation study of ammonia diffusive and active samplers at NPL

The first results from the conducted ammonia validation study under the supervision of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL), Environment Division, in the United Kingdom are getting published. We would like to thank the NPL for the great work and are convinced that this study will contribute to significantly improve the reliability of measurements in the field.

NO2/ PM10 study published from Dehli and Kanpur, India

A fast growing population coupled with industrialization, urbanization and high levels of energy consumptions is worsening the air quality particularly in developing countries. NOis regulated in most of the countries and is used as an indicator to assess the status of ambient air quality in the urban environments such as Dehli, India.

Passive sampling with NO2 samplers was conducted at 204 and 101 sampling locations in Delhi and Kanpur, respectively. It was observed that Delhi and Kanpur experienced an average NO2 concentration of 68.6 ± 20.1 lg/m3 and 36.9 ± 12.1 lg/m3, respectively. A significant correlation between NO2 and PM10 in both cities suggests that the spatial pollution mapping of NO2 is good enough to describe the patterns and trends that are also valid for other pollutants. On the basis of survey results on  missionactivities, meteorology and guidelines for site selection criteria with its characteristics (urban, traffic and suburban types), this study proposes that Delhi and Kanpur need fifteen and eight number of sampling sites to represent the complete pollution scenario

SO2 measuring for Glencore, Mopami Copper Mine, Sambia

Glencore is operating the Mopami copper mine in Sambia, one of the largest of its kind in Africa. Due to the reliabilty, the quick installation and its operation without any power supply, the SO2 passive samplers provided by passam ag were selected to measure and quantify the SO2 concentration in the surroundings of the mine.

The television report from 2014 including an interview with Dr. Markus Hangartner can be found here (interview starting at min. 15:00).
